Leading Edge launches 76 new aerosol wraps
As a UK subsidiary of global paint giant Rust-Oleum, Tor Coatings was tasked with migrating the parent company’s established spray paint brands (which are household names in the US) into the UK market and sought a trusted packaging partner to assist them with this project.
Following extensive consumer research it was found that consumers were enthusiastic about packaging which featured a unique project idea on the front of every pack - painted using the actual colour in the can.
Despite the enormous challenges this would inevitably involve, Tor was keen to appoint a packaging partner to help deliver this inspiring pack design: believing it would be key to setting their brand apart from established spray paint ranges.
After just a couple of meetings with Leading Edge Packaging Solutions, Tor found a supplier it believed could deliver this enormous task; a project involving such technical feats as matching a large block of colour on each label to the actual cap of the can to assist consumers with colour selection.
Paul Waller, Tor Marketing Manager:
“Leading Edge is one of the most thorough, professional suppliers I have worked with. They quickly got to grips with our requirements and the day to day account management was second to none.
The labels posed so many technical challenges and they worked tirelessly, at every level of the business, to resolve them. The end result bears testament to their hard work and speaks for itself. We’ve had some fantastic compliments from our customers and attracted interest from major retailers”.
The Rust-Oleum range of decorative spray paints is the first of its kind to be launched in over a decade. It boasts a major first to the UK market, in the form of Universal – the world’s first any surface spray paint. The label was printed by Leading Edge on holographic material which provided a unique, premium quality befitting of a flagship product.
Each of the 76 labels is colour-specific and bears a unique project image with metallic inks and spot colours used throughout to reinforce the brand’s positioning.
The quality and innovative nature of this product launch has already been recognised, with Leading Edge being nominated for a Gold or Silver Award at the EFTA (European Flexo Technical Association) Awards which will take place in April.
